Justine McIntyre proposes to develop a fourth link to alleviate traffic congestion

Montréal, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 – The leader of Vrai changement pour Montréal and candidate for Borough Mayor of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Justine McIntyre, will focus on developing the fourth link long awaited by Pierrefonds residents if she is elected on November 5th.

"For years, the borough residents have been calling for a fourth link to alleviate the congestion problems that are particularly debilitating in the Pierrefonds West sector. This new artery would also create access to the Réseau électrique métropolitain (REM). The outgoing Borough Mayor, Jim Beis, is well aware of the situation, which is why he promised this very link during the 2013 election campaign. But four years later, not only did he do nothing to fix the problem, but rather proposes to worsen it by adding more than 5,500 housing units in the l’Anse-à-l'Orme area, " reminded Justine McIntyre.

"Jim Beis and Team Coderre demonstrate a disappointing absence of vision by promoting real estate development benefitting the few over mobility for the many existing residents," she added.

Justine McIntyre points out that the Ministère des Transports du Québec has already acquired the lands in the A440 corridor for the construction of a highway. Vrai changement pour Montréal proposes the city acquire these lands for the development of an urban boulevard rather than a highway, to serve the citizens of Pierrefonds West in accordance with the obvious local need.

Some of the other issues raised by Vrai changement pour Montréal in the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro include the development of an action plan to counter disasters such as the floods of last spring, tighter spending control at the Borough Hall and the preservation of the Anse-à-l'Orme ecosystem, reflecting the concerns of a majority of residents.
